Face your Fuss, Find your Frolic. Together.
Fuss & Frolic is about the Transformative Journey that is at the Heart of Showing Up.
Fuss is our fear, our anxiety and our desire to be in control. It’s the stuff that holds us back, keeps us small, and maintains the mediocre status quo.
Frolic is the freedom we find through joyful self-expression and belonging. It’s the stuff that builds us up, fuels our passion and redefines what’s possible.
And is in between. It’s where we learn to embrace the unknown, find peace (and humour!) in discomfort, and see the world with new eyes. It’s where we practise showing up with courage and trusting ourselves with what emerges. And is where the magic happens!
-Brene Brown
"The willingness to show up changes us. It makes us a little braver each time."
Our approach is inspired by a well established and growing body of research that points to the combined transformative power of awareness, play, humour, and meaningful connection on learning, confidence, creativity and contribution.
Applied Improvisation is a unique methodology that encompasses all of this and more!
What is Applied Improvisation?
You might hear the term Improvisation and immediately think of a performance stage, spotlights on actors, and a rambunctious audience watching their every move....
That's Theatre Improvisation, where the goal is putting on a coherent and entertaining show for an audience.
Applied Improvisation has a different goal: to apply the principles and select learning techniques used by ensembles in Theatre Improvisation to teams and situations outside of a theatre setting.*
So, while you won't be performing the next big comedy special when you work with Fuss & Frolic, you will get to experience the power of effective communication, spontaneity, and supportive collaboration that make those works of art possible.
Applied Improvisation is emerging as an irreplaceable tool for everything from personal growth to team cohesion to strategy development, supporting groups to tap into their intuitive creativity and capacity for connection, with impactful results.
